Viv Evans joined the club in 1954 and was an immediate success. He played his first match for the club in the Reserves and was immediately selected for the first team where he remained for the rest of his ten year spell with the club. This record was slightly spoiled, when, after a spell away from Wealdstone, he returned in late 1968 as Trainer / Coach and eventually Manager of the Reserve side, where again he was called into action. Even at the end of his career however, he made occassional sortie's back into the first team ranks over two years. A lightning fast winger and regular goalscorer, Viv missed out on a full Wales cap although he was selected for 4 trials. He was honoured by the club after scoring 200 goals in ten seasons and he also played in the Great Britain Olympic side. |
