Stuart joined the club when he was released by Queens Park Rangers, as a 17 year old.
He started his Stones career in the Reserves, progressing to the first team where he made the left back spot his own.
He appeared in 242 matches for the club before joining Coventry City. Subsequently he went on to join and manage Nottingham Forest, and he also played for Newcastle United, West HAm United and Manchester City.
He appeared for and captained England for a number of years.
