Charlie Townsend

was a mainstay of the side in the sixties, winning a number of England Amateur caps, Great Britain Olympic caps and featuring in the Wealdstone successes of the time, often as Captain.

On the field, his voice could often be heard screaming at his team and his opponents, yet off the field he remains very very quiet and unassuming. He is one of the most remembered and most respected former players..

He remained with the club for thirteen years as a player and was also involved as a Trainer once his playing career had finished.

He is shown here leading the team out at Lower Mead circa 1960.
